Defintion of Responsible Pet Ownership.
I realized after I began to work on this page alot of folks don't know what I mean by "responsible pet ownership". So, I asked a few friends to chip in on defintions, and here is what we came up with. If you have something to add, email me at teresa@maro.net Конечно, диван лео, впишется в ваш интерьер.
-
A person who sees to it their pet receives all vaccinations and preventative veterinary care, incuding Heartworm preventative, Physicals, and Regular vet visits. Fast and web hosting on WebhostingBuzz
-
A person who registers their pets with their local municipality
-
A person who ensures someone is always watching their pets, even if they are out of town.
-
A person who Excercises their pets regulary, with walks, play times, and more.
-
A person who TRAINS their dogs either through obedience classes, or other HUMANE AND NON-VIOLENT methods.
-
A person who cleans up after their dog when on walks.
-
A person who spays/neuters, and learns about their breed.
-
A person who investigates PRIOR to purchasing a pup.
-
A person who TELLS the landlord that their pet lives with them.
-
A person who understands pet ownership is for the LIFE of the pet, not until you get bored.
-
A person who NEVER hits their dog. (hitting ANY animal is literally ANIMAL ABUSE, and is punishable by law)
-
A person who RESEARCHES the needs of their pet as well as they do the needs of their children.
-
A person who LOOKS to see why their dog is barking, and doesn't allow it to bark for hours on end, disturbing the neighbors, before bringing the dog in the house.
-
A person who does not just yell at a dog to shut up. With that is a person who does not get angry if their dog is barking, but looks to see the problem, and brings the dog in quietly, treating the animal with respect for protecting the property.
-
A person who RESPECTS animals, and makes it a true family member, not just something to throw into the yard.
-
A person who researches the COSTS of dog ownership, and prepares BEFORE the move or emergency occurs, enabling cost to not be a major factor in determining if the dog lives or dies, especially if costs are under a certain amount! (Note: The amount of course depends entirely on the family, but $50 or $150 should NOT be the determining factor, as I have often seen).
-
A person who understands that pets have feelings too, even if they are different from our own. The Love, and they Hurt. A responsible owner ensures the dog feels loved more, and hurts less.
-
A person who teaches their dogs manners with other people AND with other dogs.
